A first-generation Australian born to Italian parents, James grew up in Sydney and was surrounded by good food from early in life. This natural inclination continued when he studied in Urbino, Italy in his early twenties.

Returning to Sydney, James pursued a career in advertising and marketing for ten years. In 1999, he moved to New York City to further his marketing career. It was there where his passion for cooking exploded from the abundance of world-class restaurants and culinary influences.

By 2005, James decided to follow his true calling and gain working knowledge of classic technique to augment his natural ability. He enrolled in The French Culinary Institute to learn from renowned chefs.

Graduating with honors, he was soon working in some of Manhattan’s most prestigious Michelin Star restaurants with master chefs including Jean Georges Vongerichten and Daniel Boulud. This gave him an opportunity to steadily develop his own cooking style and technique in tandem with the growing demand for excellent fresh food.

Realizing the trend of individuals renovating their kitchens with semi-professional equipment, he decided to bring fine dining into their homes

James established “Our Private Chef, LLC”. His goal? To buy local and sustainable ingredients and prepare delicious meals for private clients.

After an initial consultation with clients, James develops customized daily menus that reflect his client’s dietary preferences. All meals are cooked from scratch in the client’s home. Special events and dinner parties are also available

Chef James’ areas of specialization are French, Italian, Pan-Asian. He currently lives in San Antonio with his wife and two Newfoundland dogs, Buoy and Garbo.
